Marine Mammal Rescue Day
- Marine mammals are warm-blooded vertebrates (animals with a backbone).
- They bear live young and nourish them with milk as do land mammals.
- Marine Mammals are divided into 3 groups;
- Sirenians – Manatees and dugongs – are slow plant feeders found in warm, shallow coastal habitats.
- Pinnipeds – Seals, Sea lions and Walruses – their bear young on land, but spend most of their time in the ocean.
- Cetaceans – Dolphins, Porpoises and Whales – spend all of their lives in the ocean
