International Manatee Day – There are 4 Speices of Manatees; West Indian Manatee (Trichechus manatus), Amazonian Manatee (Trichechus inunguis), African Manatee (Trichechus senegalensis), and Dwarf Manatee (Trichechus pygmaeus)
- Manatees are sometimes known as sea cows.
- Manatees are extremely docile creatures that have no natural enemies.
- They are herbivores – eat sea grass, mangrove leaves, & algae found in warm, shallow waters.
