1. The Red Panda is also known as the lesser panda, red bear-cat and red cat-bear.
2. Red Pandas are found in the Eastern Himalayas and South-western China.
3. These furry animals are more closely related to racoons than the black and white giant pandas.
4. Red Pandas are excellent tree climbers and are able to descend trees head first.
5. They have a false thumb (an extended wrist bone) which has developed over time to help them climb trees and eat bamboo.
6. Red Pandas are most active night.
7. These creatures live a solitary lifestyle except during the mating season.
8. Red Pandas are classified as endangered caused by poaching and loss of habitat.
