International Horseshoe Crab Day
- The Horseshoe Crab blood is blue. This arthropod has different oxygen-carrying protein from humans, that is called hemocyanin. Hemocyanin contains copper rather than iron (in human blood), which gives the Horseshoe Crab’s blood its bright blue color.
- The Horseshoe Crab has a hard exoskeleton and 10 legs, which it uses for walking along the seafloor.
